7pm: UNDERCONSTRUCTION opens to the public with refreshments and the opportunity to meet the artists and collectives.

6pm: Paul Chazal Total Magnetic Mix performance


Friday 5th April

Lawrence Street workshop will bake bread during the day


Saturday 6th April

10am – 5pm: EARS Bend and Build Workshop

Develop your own playable musical device with circuit bender and instrument builder Barry Cullen. All materials provided, but feel bring additional toys or devices to break apart and play with. The instruments you produce will be used throughout the exhibition, but will be yours to take away at the end of April. 8 participants maximum. RSVP

Wednesday 10th April

EARS 6.30pm – 9.30pm: SuperCollider Sound Design Workshop

Work with users of the SuperCollider open-source audio software environment to create code and sounds inspired by the physical instruments produced in the Bend and Build Workshop (see above). http://supercollider.sourceforge.net/

 
Thursday 11th April 

6pm: Untitled Gallery Opening


Friday 12th

11am – 5pm: Lawrence street Workshop will bake bread


Saturday 13th

1pm: HOLD^UP Performance/Talk 

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided


Sunday 14th April

EARS 10am – 5pm: Collaborative Laptop Performance Workshop

Join Graham Booth to explore programming as musical performance using networked laptops and new software developed at the Sonic Arts Research Centre. The workshop will introduce some simple structures for live coding, as well as techniques for performing collaboratively over a local network. Participants will have the opportunity to perform in concert on 25th April (see below). Apple Mac laptop required. RSVP

Wednesday 17th April

EARS 6pm – 9pm: Improvisation Workshop Part 1

Kevin McCullagh and Tullis Rennie invite you to explore the limits of the physical and digital instruments developed in the previous EARS workshops. Participants will have the opportunity to perform in concert on 25th April (see below). RSVP

Last chance to see and smell bread in the gallery with Lawrence Street Workshop


Monday 22th

EARS 6pm – 9pm: Improvisation Workshop Part 2

Tullis Rennie and Graham Booth invite you to develop and participate in a live performance using laptop and physical devices.
Rehearsal open to the public from 10pm. Participants will have the opportunity to perform in concert on 25th April (see below). RSVP

Thursday 25th April

9pm – 12pm: EARS @ Sonorities Concert

The results of the previous EARS workshops will be showcased as a public performance on the opening night of the Sonic Arts Research Centre’s Sonorities festival (http://www.sonorities.org.uk/). In addition, local artists and EARS members Katrina O'Kane (aka Kiani), Kevin McCullagh (aka Jan Jeffer) and Michael Spears will provide melodic electronica and wall-shaking bass with live drums. Venue: QUB Student Union (Bunatee Bar). Free entry.
